1 in 3 women across the planet are beaten/sexually abused in her lifetime.
That’s ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.
The rising has already begun!
We rise to show we are determined to create a new kind of consciousness – one where violence will be resisted by CREATIVE DISRUPTION
We invite you to join us in Bangalore to stand in SOLIDARITY against the EXPLOITATION of WOMEN, farmers, the landless, Dalits, Internally Displaced Persons, the tribal population, differently-abled people, the LGBTQA+ community, women in unorganized sectors (garment workers, domestic workers, construction workers, etc), and many other marginalized groups; for an evening to listen to their testimonies, of music and dance from diverse groups across the city.
We will be celebrating resistance all-day across the city- in Nayandahalli, Bhoopasandra, Ulsoor and we culminate in Cubbon Park. We want to continue the spirit of resistance that citizens of this city have shown after the sexual assault that happened in our city during the New Year.
We will RESIST! We will CELEBRATE!
Date: Sunday, 29th January 2017
Venue: Cubbon Park
Time: 3pm-6pm
We are witnessing the impoverishment of people’s resources, lands, and lives. There is a DEVASTATING rise in VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN in India, with OVER Two MILLION crimes against women reported in the past decade or ONE CRIME REPORTED EVERY Two MINUTES!
