Authors Ranjini Rao and Ruchira Ramanujam were present at the recent launch of their book ‘Bookworms and Jellybellies’ at Atta Galatta bookstore and cafe near Koramangala.
The event started with children eagerly answering questions regarding their favourite foods. Some said that they preferred chips, while others said that they favoured chocolate. They even professed their interest in reading, of both fiction and other genres. The parents who were present also participated in a fun interaction session. Ranjini confessed that the legendary author R K Narayan is her best-loved author whereas Ruchira mentioned that Enid Blyton is her favourite. Both also said that they were greatly inspired by these authors in their writing.
Bookworms and Jellybellies is a book comprising of stories and recipes written to be enjoyed by children. “A great children’s book is one which has fabulous food in it!” said the authors. This book, they say, will make children eager to study as well as make them aware of the various simple food-making steps. The colourful book is full of cute and wonderful pictures which will drive the children’s interest.
The authors also discussed their life stories at the launch, including about the nearly one-and-a-half years it took to realise the book. They also run a blog named ‘Tadka Pasta’ together.
