Adi Narayan is a social worker and a counsellor and addresses cases related to HIV at the HIV Forum. In this episode, he shares details of his conversation with Dr Asha, the head of District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU).
The HIV Forum team visited the DAPCU office to address the many issues afflicting ART centres – unavailable doctors, missing counselling sessions, no free camps being organised once in six months, unsatisfactory work by caregivers, and improper surgeries being carried out in a few hospitals.
One more issue that was taken up was of the new rule that demands that both the husband and the wife visit ART centres for the tablets; this is creating a problem as both spouses are often not able to go together and the drop-out cases are rising. Dr Asha has recommended that a letter be written by the HIV Forum to NAACO, the organisation which came out with the new rule.
