In this episode of Active Cooking, Dhanalakshmi and Nadia share the recipe for Averekai Gojju.
Dhanalakshmi stays in Bangalore with her family. She has three children – one daughter and two sons – all of whom are working professionals. Her husband goes to work at a workshop. In this busy household, she gets up early in the morning, does all the household chores with her daughter and then goes to work herself. She cooks in her house and her daughter does all the other work, like sweeping, washing vessels, etc.
• Coriander leaves
Take a pan and put in two tea spoons of oil.
Once the oil is heated up, put in mustard, onion and chilies and fry them well. When this mix is cooking, add in tomatoes.
When cooked, add the ginger-garlic paste. Then, add a bit of salt, chilli powder and turmeric powder.
Then, add the pre-boiled Averekai to the pan. Cook on a low flame.
Add any necessary water to the gravy and cook it well.
When fully cooked, turn off the stove and add coriander leaves before placing a lid on.
