Active Cooking: These Spicy Averekai Vadae Must Be Served Hot!

In this episode of Active Cooking, Vijayashree tells us the recipe for Spicy Averekai Vadae.


Vijayashree is a resident of Bangalore. She loves cooking and tries out various new and healthy recipes regularly. In fact, she is so accomplished that she has appeared on many shows for Kasthuri and Suvarna TV Channels. In the shows, she has demonstrated the cooking methods for various dishes using dry fruits as the main ingredients. She has also been featured in two episodes for ETV Channel.


• Skin-less Averekai seeds
• Cumin
• Ginger
• Coriander leaves
• Sabaki leaves
• Mint leaves
• Onions
• Rice powder

Toss all the ingredients mentioned above into a mixer and grind to a normal vadae batter consistency. See to it that the onions are not finely ground. Once the batter is ready, transfer it into a bowl.

Take a pan and pour oil into it. Once the oil is heated, take small parts of the batter and tap them into patties.

Fry the patties on a low flame so that they cook well. Once their colour has changed to a brownish shade, take them out of the pan. Serve hot!
